Saying Goodbye to Lucy

This weekend was a very sad one for us as our dear friend Jana made the heartbreaking decision to let LucytheLab go.  Lucy was thirteen and a half and had become weary and didn't want to eat, which is never good for a Lab!

We were glad to have the chance to chat on Skype and see Lucy one last time before she and Jana said goodbye.  Through Wiggle and Lucy, Jana and I became friends and 3 years ago I was able to go and visit them in Seattle and I will never forget our lovely visit to Richmond Saltwater Beach in Shoreline where I got to see Lucy having fun, running in the sand and the sea and being her happy, smiley self:

We will miss Lucy so much and our thoughts are with Jana at this very sad time.

Sleep peacefully, Lucy, we loves you!

Wiggle - Day 2,490

These days, there isn't so much to report from Wiggle's World.  He's showing his age and slowing down, taking life at a slower pace.

Wiggle is 12 and a half now and it shows.  He can't run like he used to and his sight is growing less acute, as is his hearing.  He still loves to swim and enjoys his weekly sessions but can't do the big running that he used to enjoy.

Now that the evenings are getting longer, Wiggle enjoys going to the field so we drive there rather than walk - that way he doesn't use up all his energy getting there.

Wiggle still loves his fuss and cuddles and every day, I still tell him how much I love him.  The sad, heart breaking reality is that he won't be with me forever but rather than feel sad, I cherish every day that my Wiggle is here.

Wiggle - Day 2,477

This weekend we've mostly been relaxing, pottering about and taking things easy although on Saturday, both Wiggle and Sofy went swimming.

Wiggle was an excellent swimmer as usual but Sofy was a bit unsure at first but soon got the idea.  Afterwards, she decided the needed to do a lot of woogling!

A bit soggy still, quite woolly but all woogled-out:

For the last couple of days, the weather has perked up so we've taken our walks in the field.  Wiggle doesn't go as far or as fast these days, but he still enjoys getting out:

Sometimes Wiggle has a burst of speed:

And he still likes to chew the grass (note the evidence):

While Wiggle was sniffing and chewing, Sofy played ball:

This morning, Sofy and Wiggle took it in turns to lay in the sunny spot:
