Wiggle - Day 2,197

I realised earlier that its been a few days since I blogged, but to be honest, we haven't been doing much!

Sofy is feeling a lot better and is still on the Metacam but not on Tramadol any more.  She hasn't been leaking either and now has the Propalin once a day, so the wee problem seems to be under control.

For a while after her injury, Sofy wasn't able to woogle but I know she's feeling better as she did some good woogling this morning:

Once she'd finished, she stretched out to enjoy the sunshine.

Wiggle - Day 2,192

Wiggle and Sofy spent a lot of time in the garden, enjoying the sunshine:

Sofy fell asleep while Wiggle woogled, warming his tummy:

Sofy had an appointment at the vets this evening to check on how she's doing since her injury last week.  The good news is that it is most likely muscular and with the help of the Metacam for another week and short lead walks for another two weeks, she should be just fine.

After our appointment, we went to do a little shopping, which Sofy thought was a lot of fun:

She particularly enjoyed stopping at the pets store and after helping herself to a couple of treats, chose these to bring home and share with Wiggle.  Not all at once though!

Wiggle - Day 2,190

As tennis balls are Wiggle's favourite toy, he is excited that Wimbledon has started and to celebrate, he was allowed his special tournament tennis ball that we got last year when we visited the world famous Centre Court:

Sofy is resting, so only had one tennis ball:

After doing a good down stay, Wiggle of course chose his special tennis ball:

He's ready for the tennis!

Sofy is doing ok, resting a lot but still not comfortable following her injury.  After talking to the vets yesterday, she is now also having Tramadol to help her feel more comfortable.  She has an appointment on Wednesday with the vet so until then, it's fingers and paws crossed that she hasn't done anything serious.

Wiggle - Day 2,188

Yesterday turned out to be a bit more eventful than we expected!  In the afternoon Wiggle had an appointment at the vets as he has been limping more and wobbly on his back end.  Options are limited but he has been given Tramadol to help with the pain so we will see how that goes.

Sofy had come with us and we stopped at Maud Heath on the way back for a walk.

Wiggle headed toward the monument:

While Sofy was running around:

Quick rest in the shade:

While Wiggle was mooching around, Sofy sat on the bench at the base of the monument.  It's been there since 1838!

Turned out that Wiggle was looking for tasty cowpoopsnacks:

Sofy and Wiggle played some ball games as we headed back to the car:

But after that, we had a nasty shock when Sofy was running for the ball and her back legs gave way underneath her.  She yelped but couldn't get her legs underneath her, instead they were out to the sides and she dragged them along as her front feet were still running.  I caught her up and got her to sit down but she was panting and shaking and struggling to stand.

Needless to say, I was very scared and called the vets, arranging to take her straight in and after helping her stand and walk slowly, got her in the car but she was still very stressed.  Fortunately we didn't have to wait too long to be seen and after a thorough examination, the vet couldn't find an obvious injury and hopes that it is muscular, rather than a problem with a disc in her spine.

So poor little Sofy is now also on Metacam and resting, taking short lead walks and feeling very sorry for herself.  I shall be watching her closely and taking her straight back to the vets if necessary.

Happy 6th Gotcha Day Wiggle!

My special boy celebrates his 6th Gotcha Day today - six lovely years together.

I love my Wiggle so much, I hope we get to celebrate many more years side by side.

Wiggle - Day 2,186

Poor little Sofy has been having some embarassing problems recently - she's been a bit leaky and weeing without realising.  It had been happening very randomly for a while but yesterday she wet herself 3 times while she was laying down so she went to the vet to get checked out.

She has been given Propalin syrup which will hopefully help in the short term and the vet asked for a urine sample so this morning, much to Sofy's confusion, I followed her with a shallow bowl when she went out to wee.

The vet called back with the results and it seems that Sofy's sample was indicative of early stage kidney failure as the urine wasn't very concentrated.  It could be due to the warmer weather and Sofy drinking more so to be sure, she will give another sample in about 10 days time and we will take it from there.

Apart from that, she is fine in herself and spent some time this afternoon playing in the garden.

She and Wiggle took it in turns with Octopus:

Then Sofy got hold of Centipede:

And pulled faces as she tore out stuffing:

Soon though, Sofy got bored of shredding...

So Wiggle took over:

Wiggle - Day 2,185

We've been having lovely weather and good weather means the grass in the field has got very long!

Wiggle started off on the path:

But soon abandoned his tennis ball and went exploring:

Sofy was jumping through the grass:

Tired but happy:

Wiggle - Day 2,181

After a busy week, we are now in London having a relaxing weekend away.  Sofy and Cato were very happy to be reunited and Haggis was keen to enjoy some boy-time with Wiggle:

Early evening was spent emptying the toy basket and playing:

Then Wiggle did some Neighbourhood Watch training with young Haggis:

After supper, Sofy and Haggis spent some time playing tuggy games:

While Wiggle stayed out of the way, lounging on the sofa:

The tuggy games continued until Sofy got tired:

Cato was trying to get some rest but Haggis was still way too excited and was all blurry with silliness:

This afternoon we will all go for a nice walk in Wimbledon before leaving Paul to look after the dogs while Mindy and I go to the theatre to see War Horse - my birthday treat!

Wiggle - Day 2,175

Wiggle and I had a great day at the Bowood Dog Show today.  We arrived to sunshine and took up our place at the Pets As Therapy stand:

Wiggle was being a Very Good Boy and looking very smart:

Looking out for visitors to meet and greet:

Also on the stand was little Manuka:

The beautiful setting of Bowood House:

Refreshment requirements were taken care of!

We met up with our friend Dolly:

After we'd done our time on the stand, we had some time to wander around and then relax:

Wiggle - Day 2,174

This morning Wiggle wasn't in any hurry to get out of bed, he was far too sleepy and comfortable!

Later on, Wiggle came to the store with me and was happy to ride up front, nose out the window:

Lately, I'd seen a little mouse in our garden and this morning, after I'd cut the grass, our little visitor was out again, eating up the seeds dropped by the birds:

For the rest of today, Wiggle is going to rest and save his energy for our day out tomorrow at the Bowood Dog Show where we will be for the day, representing Pets As Therapy.

Wednesday 4 June 2014

Wiggle - Day 2,171

This weekend Wiggle and I will be at the Bowood Dog Show, representing Pets As Therapy.

The show is a great day out with lots to see and do so we are hoping for good weather while we take our place on the PAT stand.  Wiggle will be wearing his uniform and has assured me he will be on his best behaviour.

If you're in the area, come along - the show is at Bowood House, near Calne in Wiltshire.

Wiggle - Day 2,168

We've had nice weather so spent plenty of time enjoying some walks in the fields close by.

The recent damp and mild weather has helped the grass grow taller, so Wiggle and Sofy followed the path:

Sofy then changed her mind and came back to me:

The lambs aren't so little anymore:

Wiggle wanted his ball while Sofy looked like she needed to sleep:

Wiggle leads the way home...
